Safety

Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting is committed to safety through comprehensive training of our work force, continuous improvement initiatives, and creating a workplace culture where our employees strongly believe that safe production is one of their core values. Our operations at Coopers Plains, New York and Chemung, New York have received the Sentinels of Safety through the Department of Labor for the years: 1986, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Our Construction projects have been recipients of numerous safety awards over the years, as well.

Environmental & Site Development

Modern society could not exist without quality crushed stone. Crushed stone is the primary ingredient in concrete and hot mix asphalt. These products are essential for roads, bridges, airports and buildings. Our quarries and gravel mines are operated in such a way as to protect air and water quality and are subject to numerous government regulations, along with voluntarily imposed operational standards. In 2005, we began a major series of investments in efficiency and carbon footprint reductions. Since that time, we have reduced our carbon foot print per ton of aggregate and hot mix asphalt by nearly 20%, exceeding even the Paris Accord goals.

A common misconception is that quarries and asphalt plants create vast industrial wastelands that drive away wildlife, homes and businesses.  When designing a site, Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting incorporates numerous features such as landscape buffers, sound and visual barriers, and existing site topography to make sure our use of the property is compatible with our surrounding neighbors.  The video on this page illustrates how we have accomplished this at one of our asphalt plants.

Upon completion of operations at a site, the site is reclaimed for sustainable future land use. Examples of our reclaimed gravel mines can be seen below.
